Meet Jeff
There's a saying that goes:
"In the exam called 'life', you learn the answers after the experience, not before"
For Jeff, this couldn’t be more accurate.
Growing up with limiting beliefs, Jeff was a shy and quiet boy. Back then, this was acceptable because life had not yet tested him. But when his dream of becoming a professional footballer came to an end, it triggered a downward spiral, overwhelming him with old fears and insecurities. The resulting stress and mental health challenges nearly cost him his life.
At rock bottom, Jeff faced a critical "sink or swim" moment and made the choice to swim. This is where his commonly used phrase "Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes" was born.
He immersed himself into self-help and mental health education, rewiring his mind and embracing a growth mindset. He began viewing challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles and his life improved as a result. This transformation led Jeff to where he is today, working in professional football alongside the Premier League, EFL, FA and WSL.
Driven by his journey, Jeff wants to prevent others, especially young athletes with aspirations of going pro, from facing the same struggles. He believes that mental skills are just as crucial as physical ones, and both deserve equal respect. Off-the-pitch worries, particularly financial concerns, can weigh heavily on even the best players, affecting their on-pitch performance and well-being. Financial literacy is becoming a crucial issue as more money flows into the sport.
Through “Football’s Chartered Accountant explains,” Jeff aims to equip young footballers with a growth mindset to enhance their on-the-pitch performance and the financial literacy skills needed to control their off-the-pitch lives.
His mission is to prepare aspiring footballers to handle life’s challenges, whether or not they make it to the professional game and to empower them to take control of their futures and build successful careers, whatever path they choose.
